Pruning Process

Pruning Process refers to the normally occurring process that change and reduce the number of neurons, synapses and axons that exist within the brain and nervous system. Infants are born with a massive number of available nervous synapses that, with growth, age and experience, reduce in number to include those which are useful and needed, while the unused disappear with time. For this reason it is important to create a mentally and physically stimulating environment for infants and children in order to maximize the neural pathways created before this pruning process begins.
