Prognosis

A prognosis is the the "forecast" that doctors use for a patient's recovery from an accident or disease. This is based on the individual's progress toward recovery and the statistical probability of recovery based on past incidents of the same disease or accident.

For instance, if a patient is suffering from cancer the doctor will first look at the rate of survival for the particular type of cancer along with the age and general health of the victim.65s The doctor will then use those statistics to "predict" the possibility of survival. Prognoses are not 100% certain as they are predictions and the actual case may be different from what the doctor presents.
