Connectiveness

Connectiveness is a recently coined word that refers to the quality and quantity of a person's connections to others, either personally or online. In our modern, busy, and frequently impersonal lives it is difficult to create and maintain personal relationships and causes many to reach out to others through social media. Social media makes it possible to find others who share your interests and outlook without the need to leave the comfort of home. However, time spent online takes away time spent with family and friends and unfortunately, when online, you can never fully trust that your contacts are who and what they say they are. On some social media sites it is possible to get into negative situations with online bullying, feuding, and "catfishing" (people seeking intimate relationships but are not honest about who and what they are). The difficult part is in how to properly manage and balance your life with your online contacts.
